Blenders have become increasingly popular over the years and are now found in almost every modern kitchen. It opens the door to so many meal possibilities that most people cannot imagine a life without it. It is especially famous for making smoothies and milkshakes which you can whip up as a quick breakfast when you are late for work, or on a diet or just a fan of frozen drinks! Once you buy a good quality blender, you would definitely want it to stay in good shape and give optimum performance for several years. This is only possible if you take good care of it and give some consideration to keep it clean and maintained. Here are some tips you can follow to optimum performance of your blender and ensure long life:
Clean it immediately after use.
It is a good practice to clean the blender right away and not save it for later as it will become difficult to clean once food dries on it. To save yourself from all the trouble, wash it right after you are done using it.
Do not ever wash the base.
Never immerse the base in water as this is where the motor is and can get damaged if it comes in contact with water. However, you should clean it once in a while by wiping it with a damp cloth and remove any food stains stuck on it. You can use a drop of detergent to remove tough stains.
Do not overwork the motor.
Do not put undue strain on the motor of the blender. To help the motor perform well, chop up the ingredients into smaller pieces before adding them to the blender and do not run the machine continuously for several minutes. If your recipe requires you to process for a long time, give breaks in between. Turn the machine off and wait a while before resuming.
Not all blenders can crush ice.
Unless the instruction manual clearly states that the blender can crush ice, assume otherwise and use it to process only soft food.
